Do all massage therapists receive the same training?
While all massage therapists in Texas
have to attend a basic 300-hour course of study, and pass a written
and practical (performance-based) examination to receive their
Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) license, they vary in skill
and advanced training.
All therapists are trained in basic
Swedish massage techniques, which is basically a superficial or
light tissue massage. If you have muscle tension, injury, or Myofascial
problems (knots) this form of massage may be nothing more than
a feel-good practice that is solely relaxing and will not help
the underlying structural problems or they will quickly return.
If you are experiencing these types of problems, you need a therapist
with advanced training in Sports Massage, Trigger Point
